Submission Deadline: March 31, 2025
Wait-List Deadline: April 30, 2025

This is your opportunity to show your work on a professional stage utilizing an experienced lighting designer and production staff. Each piece will be adjudicated by outstanding dance professionals and educators, and feedback will be given. Eight to ten finalists will be selected to perform at the Showcase Finals. Judge's Choice, Runner-up, and Audience Choice awards amount to  $1000 in cash prizes!

Choreographers:
Dance pieces should be new works; no longer than 10 minutes. Movement should be original and non-traditional.

Your submission video does not need to be a staged performance, but please submit your work as complete as possible.  The submission deadline is midnight on March 31st, with a possible wait-list through April 30th. Only one submission per choreographer may be accepted and the choreographer must be present at the adjudication.

If selected, Choreographers are responsible for their own rehearsal space, costume arrangements and must commit to attending a 30 minute technical rehearsal on Thursday May 29, Friday May 30, or Saturday May 31st. Typically Saturday is reserved only for those traveling the furthest distance. You will have the opportunity to request a tech time within a block.  Only the finalists will perform at Choreography Showcase Finals.

Dancers:

Dancers should be age 16 or older, unless the nature, story, or subject matter of the work requires younger dancers.  They should have modern/contemporary dance experience, and most importantly, be reliable and efficient. Dancers must be able to commit to attending the technical rehearsal, adjudication, and if selected, the evening performance.

Process:

  • Submit an application including details and a recording of your piece. The early bird submission fee is $50 ($35 for Washington County residents)

  • Submissions will be reviewed and choreographers notified of acceptance by April 5th.

  • Approximately 17 accepted pieces will be given tech and adjudication times by May 15th.

  • Those accepted will need to pay an additional tech fee of $50. This is to help offset the cost of the venue and tech professionals (which is normally about $250 for this 30 minute tech time). You will also be given a voucher for a free ticket to the Choreography Showcase Finals Saturday night.

  • All accepted submissions will perform and receive feedback during the Adjudication Friday May 30 from 4-6pm or Saturday May 31, 12:55-3:45pm.  These performances are free to the public.

  • Finalists (8-10 pieces) will be selected and notified by 5:30pm to prepare to perform in the Showcase Finals at 7:30pm.

  • Judges Choice, Runner up, and Audience Choice awards are presented at the end of the Showcase Finals.
