The Red Rock Dance Festival hosts the 12th annual Choreography Showcase which will be held June 1, 2019 at the DSU Eccles Main Stage Theater. The showcase offers choreographers an opportunity to show up to 10 minutes of work on a professional stage including an experienced lighting designer and production staff. The dance pieces will be adjudicated by professional dance company directors and educators during the dress rehearsal, after which 8-10 finalists will perform at the 7:30pm evening performance. There is a $500 cash prize award given for judge’s choice and $500 audience choice! Submit your work!
Dance pieces should be no longer than 10 minutes. Movement should be original and nontraditional. Works submitted are subject to a selection process and should represent the highest quality. Choreographers are responsible for their own rehearsal space and arranging their own costumes. Choreographers must be able to commit to attending a 30 minute technical rehearsal on Thursday, May 31st, 9am-9pm or Saturday, June 1st, 8-11am (reserved for people traveling from out of town). As well, they must commit to attend the adjudicated dress rehearsal Saturday, June 1st that begins at 12:30pm. 8-10 finalists will be selected and then perform at the 7:30pm evening performance. New works are accepted. Please submit a rehearsal video as soon as available.
Dancers should be age 16 or older, have modern dance experience, and most importantly, be reliable and efficient. Dancers must be able to commit to attending the technical rehearsal, dress rehearsal and if selected, the evening performance.
